Creative Individual Grants
Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council is offering a "Creativity in our Region" grant, which gives $250 in funds to individual creatives who want to develop a new skill! Mankato Makerspace offers a "skill up" package, which includes:

2 classes* - $100 value

3 month membership - $150 value
*Shoe making and Foundry not included.
Getting funded
for classes + 3 months membership.
Grant Amount: One-time amount of $250 to an individual
Deadline: 15th of the month, July 2025 - March 2026
The purpose of the "Creativity in our Region" grant is to encourage new types of people to interact with creative exploration and learnings that they might otherwise not prioritize without these funds.
This program gives individuals the opportunity to register for a class or workshop and purchase supplies in an art discipline that they have been interested in, but haven’t had the chance or means to pursue.

Class Ideas for your Grant
Basic Safety:
A membership necessity
We must ensure that our community shop is safe for all to use. For this reason, we require all members, regardless of experience to go through orientation and be cleared by a shop lead before using hazardous equipment. Shop orientations and safety courses ensure that the equipment at the Makerspace stays accessible to all members and has as little down time as possible.
Form &
Technique
Members who wish to unlock creative productivity often benefit from refreshers or full blown courses on basic techniques for making. Our shop leads can get new & experienced makers on the path to creating effectively.
Class Tuition
Basic safety classes unlock access to the Makerspace shops. A $45 woodshop safety orientation will enable a new member to utilize woodshop tools. Each shop has their own shop lead and shop safety curriculum. More information can be located on our classes page.
