About the event

As we learn more and more about how important Bees are to our planet and our ecosystem, many of us want to know what we can do to help these little gals and guys thrive, and what better way to ensure their safety and longevity than beecoming a Keeper of the Bees. Kaylee from Moody Bees will be sharing her knoweldge and trade with those who wish to learn more about beekeeping.

This will be the first of a multi-level class, set up mostly as a presentation. We will go over the basics of honey bee biology, honey bee habitat, pests and diseases, run through of the equipment needed, and where to purchase bees.

There will be live demonstrations of equipment.  If you want to jot down notes during the presentation dont forget to bring your pen and pad.

This event is fun and informative for the whole family! (Kids are welcome at no charge!)

A little more about  Kaylee Mood and Moody Bees:

Owner of Moody Bees Honey, a local commercial honey company since 2014. We produce honey and beeswax for local sales, and raise bees for migratory pollination

We are very passionate about pollinators of all types. When raising our animals and crops with the pollinators in mind, we try to mimic the natural world as much as possible to keep the ecosystem healthy. Our honey bees being the stars of the show.

The apiary is small but growing. Our goal is to provide tasty honey, natural beeswax products and other farm raised products to our local communities.

Education is very important to our business, with increasing loss of habitat and overuse of pesticides honey bees and native pollinators are in an alarming decline. But with community outreach and general education about how to be pollinator friendly we believe that can change.
