About the event
Attendees will build their own bat box that provides a safe habitat for bats outside of your home.Â
In this class, you’ll get a kit of pre-cut lumber with all the materials you need to assemble a DNR approved bat box.Â
Though the Mankato river valley area is home to several bat species, this bat box is designed to be inhabited by little brown bats and big brown bats, the most common bats in the area.Â
Bats eat insects and will reduce disease carrying pest populations around your property if they take up residence in your bat box! The class is a 90 minute session where you’ll assemble your own box, learn more about hospitable locations for hanging your bat box, and get valuable information about how bats promote a healthy ecosystem and make our city an even more beautiful place to live. No prior experience with power tools required! One ticket gets you admission for yourself And up to 3 family members and one kit for building your box. Attendees will leave the class with an assembled bat box that they can paint at home before hanging.
