About the event

During this introduction to encaustic painting, participants will paint with molten wax on a warm wood panel, fusing each layer with a heat gun. To release ourselves from the paralyzing effects of self-criticism, we'll tap into our creative intuition using playful exploration in a fun, supportive environment!

After practicing the basics, we'll explore techniques for altering the wax surface. Watercolors, oil pastels, charcoal, stencils, metal, artifacts (like pressed leaves, paper, feathers, and thread) and other media will be available for experimentation; and an assortment of tools and supplies. The small class size allows for more individualized instruction. Note: Encaustic painting involves safety hazards including heat, fumes, and sharp tools. We'll meet in a well-ventilated room; student safety and comfort are top priorities! Questions? Contact Deb Groebner at whiteoak22@gmail.com
