About the event

Want to learn the molten mysteries of glass working? We will give you hands-on experience and one on one instruction about glass blowing (torch work) basics. This class will introduce you to how glass moves in its liquid state and how it can be manipulated in a stress-free environment!

This is the perfect class for anyone who wants to experience glassblowing (torch work) in a low risk, super fun and relaxed lesson. Participants will receive personal instruction about glass working basics, safety, equipment use, and torch techniques. You will be making your every own Clear Creation (necklace pendant, paperweight and/or sculptural form) in this lesson! One student will create while the other observes, then students will switch. This course is designed for beginners who are enthusiastic about trying new things and want to learn the mysterious art of glass working in a safe and encouraging environment.

TICKETS:

-Class size is two students max.

-1 ticket per student

-Sign up with a partner! so you can enjoy this exciting new experience with your significant other, bestie or family member.

-Your ticket covers all class fees which pay for fuel and materials, equipment use and kiln annealing (pendants will need to go through an overnight annealing cycle and can be picked up at the Makerspace the following day or if you live out of town can be sent to you via postal service).

A Little about the instructor:

"Dustin is a very patient and encouraging teacher, all of the classes I have taken with him have been fun and informative. He has a knack for making you feel comfortable right away in the artistic process and eases any anxieties you might have about trying a new art form."

Dustin is a visual artist who has been honing his craft for over 10 years. He has a Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) and Masters of Arts (MA) degree in Metal Sculpture and Ceramics from MNSU. He also is a professional Glass artist and is the sole proprietor of Flame In Hand Glass. He is a board member and our Metal, Glass and Ceramic Shop Lead here at the Mankato Makerspace, where he helps run the shop and teaches classes on Glass blowing/ Lampworking, Stained glass, Pottery, Welding and metal fabricating/ sculpture. You are in safe and capable hands with this knowledgeable individual.
