About the event
After practicing the basics, participants will explore techniques for incorporating other media with wax. In addition to typical art media like watercolors and oil pastels, participants may experiment with hot metal tools, photo transfer, and artifacts such as pressed leaves, paper, and thread.
Deb will be teaching the class. Wear old clothes and comfortable shoes. Registration fee includes one cradled wood panel to keep plus materials used during the class: encaustic medium, paint, and brushes; mixed media for experimentation; and an assortment of tools and supplies. The small class size allows for more individualized instruction. Note: Encaustic painting involves safety hazards including exposure to hot surfaces, hot air, flames, molten wax, sharp edges, and toxic fumes. We'll meet in a well-ventilated room; student safety and comfort are top priorities!
