About the event
Stereotyped gender roles be damned, stick it to “The Man” and become the bad-ass, spark flying, welding mamma you have always wanted to be! This is a welcoming and encouraging welding course that will cover the basics of MIG and Gas Welding in an exciting and uplifting hands-on tutorial. Dustin is an easygoing, patient, and enthusiastic instructor that will help make you a welding pro in no time! Never fear there will be no “Mansplaining” here, just respectful coaching and lots of fun. In this session you and your gal pals will be learning: welding safety, equipment use, proper preparation, hands on practice of various types of welding joint techniques, as well as what quality welds should look like and how to trouble-shoot. Each student will be adding to “the rubber-band ball” that is our weld monster (aka scrap steel) because this workshop is set up as first time experience and practice session (there will be no specific project that you will be taking home at the end of this lesson). Safety comes first so wear your Welders Best which is: closed toe shoes, work clothes that can get dirty or singed preferably jeans and a long sleeve 100% cotton shirt (synthetic fabrics can be flammable) and your hair up. Course is designed for up to FOUR students, $30 non-members, $25 members. So grab your besties and let those metal sparks fly!
