Service Description

Four week class, must book all 4 sessions consecutively. Makerspace closed 18+, bring your own bedsheet (twin or larger) in any pattern! Course Description: A four week long, highly creative sewing class where students transform a bed sheet into a fully constructed and artistically customized garment. Combining garment construction, dyeing, and embellishment, this class prioritizes bold creative expression and finishing a wearable piece. Core Project: Create a simple garment from a bed sheet and transform it into a wearable art piece Class Materials: 1 bed sheet (cotton preferred) Thread Misc Sewing tools Fabric scissors, pins/clips Dye + Paint + Bleach Scrap fabric (for patches) Weekly Breakdown (4 Weeks) Week 1: Plan, Cut, Sewing Intro + examples Pattern overview (pre-selected, beginner-friendly) Fabric layout + cutting (guided step-by-step) Begin sewing Week 2: Garment Assembly Continue construction: Pressing + clean finishes Quick fit check + minor adjustments Goal by end of class: A fully assembled, wearable (but unfinished) garment Week 3: Paint/Dye + Design Color modification (dye, paint, bleach) Quick dry strategies (or pre-dye option) Intro to patches + design planning Begin surface design Week 4: Patch, Embellish, Finish Create simple patches Attach patches + embellishments Intro to minimal embroidery (optional, time-dependent) Final composition guidance End of Class: Mini showcase fashion show/wear your piece
